A-Kon 33: Summer 2024 Postponed
AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO OUR AMAZING COMMUNITY:
We know you’ve been eagerly waiting for news about A-Kon 33, and we sincerely apologize for the long stretch of silence.
As many of you know, the pandemic and its ripple effects have caused unexpected challenges for many events, and before that A-Kon had its own unique challenges as well. Over the last few years, our staff and volunteers rallied together to reorganize, heal, and improve our processes to lay the groundwork for A-Kon’s lasting future. At the same time, a Board of Investors was formed during the pandemic to keep us financially afloat.
Unfortunately, not only has our Board of Investors run into their own funding delays, but subsidies promised from the State to cover certain expenses have been delayed as well. Waiting for this funding has put us in a tight spot, and we’ve been expecting it to come any day now for several months. Until it arrives we’re unable to honor our agreements with our venues, reboot our website, sign talent, or move forward with planning the con.
Our team has worked tirelessly, exploring every option to make the con happen on our anticipated dates. However, recently the staff came together as a family while we waited for news on funding, and agreed that while we’re confident we could plan an awesome con in the few months we have, it would not be the quality experience we want to provide.
IT IS WITH HEAVY HEARTS THAT WE ARE ANNOUNCING THE POSTPONEMENT OF A-KON 33.
This wasn’t an easy decision, but we believe it’s the best way to ensure we can come back stronger and offer the experience you deserve. We’re actively working to resolve the funding issues and are already planning for an amazing A-Kon 33, and possibly a few other surprises as well.
This isn’t the news any of us wanted, and we’re very disappointed to have to share it. The A-Kon community means the world to us, and we deeply appreciate your patience and support. We’ll be out there at other cons this year, spreading the A-Kon spirit.

2024 POSTPONEMENT: REFUND PROCESS AND FAQ
WHAT DOES POSTPONEMENT MEAN FOR YOUR REGISTRATION?
To everyone who snagged pre-registrations, we want to sincerely thank you for your early support for 2024. We want to reassure you that the plan is to refund all A-Kon 33 registration purchases up to this point. We will reopen sales again once we are able to confirm our new dates.
The A-Kon Team is still waiting on final info from our Board of Investors, who control the flow of money for the con, on how and when these refunds will be issued, but we are expecting that information soon and will be sending updates as we get them, so please remember to check your inbox!
We understand that this is not ideal. It is frustrating for us as well not to have this information yet. We are working very hard behind the scenes to get these details as quickly as possible.
CAN TICKETS BE ROLLED FORWARD TO THE NEXT EVENT?
We are not currently offering the option to roll your tickets forward to the new dates, as we aren't currently certain when or where A-Kon 33 will be and we don't want to leave anyone hanging if there are any additional delays.
HOW WILL REFUNDS BE ISSUED?
Normally, we are able to issue refunds immediately within two months of purchase. However, once 60 days have passed since the original purchase, the A-Kon Team loses the ability to issue refunds through the credit card processor.
We are still waiting for confirmation on how refunds for those older purchases will be handled. However, in the past, our Board of Investors has had eventPower directly contact each individual to discuss the option of receiving the refund back via check, PayPal, or similar methods instead. As soon as we have confirmation of how it will work, we will send an update email out to everyone who is affected by this issue.
If you are affected, you will likely be contacted via email, so please make sure to keep checking your inbox, and be aware that a response from you may be required.
WHAT CAN I DO TO SPEED UP THE REFUND PROCESS?
We highly recommend logging into your eventPower Registration Portal to make sure that all of your contact information is correct and up to date.
You can find the link to your portal in your original confirmation email. If you cannot find your original email, please let us know and we can get that resent to you.
